Bench Reveals

Bristol City Football Club, Bristol City Supporters Club & Trust Bench Installation

Bristol City FC, Bristol City Supporters Club & Trust, A Bench of Hope

On 10th September, World Suicide Prevention Day, Legend on the Bench had the privilege of unveiling another of our Suicide Prevention Benches, this time in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.

As always, the Installation was an inspiring and beautiful occasion. There is something very special about seeing people come together for a simple bench that carries such an important message. These benches are not just places to sit. They are places to pause, to breathe, to talk, to listen and, hopefully, to find a little bit of hope when someone needs it most.

A huge thank you to Bristol City FC & BristolCity Supporters Club & Trust for funding this very important bench and for recognising just how much these visible reminders can mean to people within the community.

I also want to say a very special thank you to Katrina Watts for all her effort, commitment and support. People like Katrina are what make these things happen, and her dedication has been hugely appreciated. Together we are saving lives, keep up the great work you are doing 💙

And to everyone else who played their part, whether your contribution was big or small, thank you. Every person involved in bringing this bench to Scunthorpe has helped us take another step towards creating communities where people feel able to speak, and where nobody feels they have to struggle alone.

Finally, thank you to everyone who came along to the Installation. Your presence really does matter. Standing together, showing support and being willing to have these conversations is how we begin to change things.

World Suicide Prevention Day is a reminder that suicide affects far too many families, but it is also a reminder that hope is always worth fighting for.

Another bench, another community, another opportunity to remind someone that they are seen, they are heard and they matter.

“Sometimes hope begins with something as simple as a place to sit, a person willing to listen, and the courage to say, ‘I’m not okay.’ Never underestimate what that moment can mean to someone.”
