Basingstoke Bench Reveal, in Memory of Joe Powell ( Eagleman )

One Day, Two Bench Reveals, Alresford & Basingstoke, Together We March.

Today, 4 August 2026, marked a truly special milestone for everyone at Legend on the Bench Charity as we proudly unveiled another Suicide Prevention Bench in memory of Joe Powell.

Our benches are more than just places to sit, they stand as a lasting reminder that support is always within reach, offering hope, comfort, and support to anyone who may need it most at the very moment they need it.

The speeches were incredibly moving. Every story, every memory, and every heartfelt word reminded us of the impact Joe had on so many lives. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd, and the love and admiration shared for Joe was something none of us will ever forget. 💙🙏

The reveal of Joe’s suicide prevention bench was such a powerful moment. It stands not only as a beautiful tribute to Joe but also as a symbol of hope, compassion, and the importance of reaching out. We hope it becomes a place where people can pause, remember, reflect, have conversations, and know that they are never alone and someone is always listening. 💙

To Joe’s family & Friends, thank you for your unwavering love, commitment, strength, and endless energy. The dedication you’ve shown in Joe’s memory and in bringing this special tribute to life has been truly inspiring. Your determination to turn loss into hope for others is something that will continue to make a difference for years to come, and we are so grateful to have shared this journey with you. 🙏

Thank you to Cllr Paul Balsham, your work effort and commitment to getting this Bench installed was amazing, your support of the cause is inspiring and uplifting. Thank you for everything you have done, from helping raise the funds to helping organise the day, to speaking on the day, your effort and commitment is remarkable. Thank You. 💙

To Luke, one of Joe’s friends, your speech was incredible, filled with such raw emotion, it was simply beautiful. Your words were spoken on behalf of all Joe’s friends who were in attendance at the unveiling. Thank you so much for your eforts in remembering Joe. Also a big thank you to Rob, who’s efforts in making this bench a reality were incredible, along with Cllr Paul Balsham you were amazing. 💙💙💙

To everyone who came to support us, thank you. Your presence meant more than we can ever put into words. Seeing so many people come together in Joe’s memory, standing alongside his family and showing such love and support, was incredibly comforting. Your kindness reminds us that even through heartbreak, community, compassion, and hope can shine through. 🙏

Thank you for honouring Joe, for supporting his family, and for helping us share such an important message. Together, we can keep Joe’s memory alive while encouraging others to speak, to listen, and to know that there is always hope

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made this bench possible, from those who contributed and supported the initiative, to those who were present on the day to support the cause. Your support allows us to continue creating meaningful spaces that honour lives, stories, legacies, and also save lives. 💙

Finally, Joe’s nickname was Eagleman and everyone in attendance got together and paid tribute to Joe by shouting aloud his nickname, below is the video. 💙
