Today was one of those days that feels both incredibly beautiful and quietly heavy.
We found ourselves in Bournemouth with Legend on the Bench Charity, unveiling our 107th Suicide Prevention Bench. The setting was stunning, peaceful, almost comforting but the reason we were there carried a deep sadness that stayed with us all.
This bench was placed in memory of Dan, taken far too soon at just 32 years old following a heart attack. A life cut short, a family forever changed.
What made today even more powerful was knowing that the bench was made possible by the love and determination of Dan’s mum and dad, Karen and Ian. Their strength, their commitment to honouring Dan in a way that will help others, is something truly special.
Our trustee Paul Carrington, alongside his wife Alison, had the honour of unveiling the bench. It was a moment filled with reflection, emotion, and a quiet sense of purpose.

These benches are more than just a place to sit. They are spaces to pause, to breathe, to reflect and a gentle reminder that you are not alone and someone is always listening.
Today reminded me why we do what we do. Even on the saddest days, there is beauty in coming together, in remembering, and in creating something that might just help someone else keep going.
“Sometimes hope sits quietly on a bench, waiting for someone to come and sit beside it.”
