Bench Reveals

County Cork Bench Reveal, Irelands 9th.

Another very special day in Ireland for Legend on the Bench ❤️

Today, September 12th, we had the honour of unveiling our 9th Suicide Prevention Bench in Ireland, this time in County Cork. Once again, this was a particularly special occasion for us.

To see our benches continuing to find their way into communities across the UK and Ireland means more to everyone involved with Legend on the Bench than I can really put into words.

There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes, the early starts, the long drives up and down motorways, the late finishes and all the miles in between. But then you arrive, you see that bench in place, you meet the people who have come along, and you watch it being unveiled.

That’s when you remember exactly why we do it.

Knowing that each bench could give someone a reason to stop, sit down, talk, or simply realise that they’re not alone, that somebody cares, and that there will always be someone willing to sit beside them and listen, makes every mile, every early morning and every late night completely worthwhile. And we’ll keep going, one bench, one community and one conversation at a time.

It was a Stunning setting for Ireland’s 9th bench. Ballincollig Regional Park & Cork County council approved. A lovely day despite the wet weather. Our bench will shine bright at night & be visible from the bridge overhead that unfortunately has taken many a life. Huge thanks to Sinn Fein Counsellor Joe Lynch who was in attendance with many friends and family of the late Conor Cleare whose memory bench sits in Passage East Waterford

As always, the unveiling was a really beautiful and emotional occasion, with so many people coming together to show their support. And that, to me, is exactly what these benches are about bringing people together and creating a place where someone can simply sit, take a breath, talk and, most importantly, be listened to.

Sometimes, just knowing that someone is there can make all the difference in the world.

Following the unveiling, we were incredibly grateful to have a reception hosted by Cork City Council at the council offices. once again It gave everyone the opportunity to come together, share conversations and talk openly about why suicide prevention is so important and how these benches can help make a difference in our communities.

Once again I simply cannot finish without saying a massive thank you to Dublin Spurs and Mags Malloy.

You guys are just amazing, your support, your commitment and your fundraising is simply incredible. You are helping us put our benches across Ireland and into communities where they can make a real difference. You are making a huge difference of that there’s no doubt, but, most importantly, you are helping us save lives.

Every bench has a story. Every bench carries a message. And every bench has the potential to change a life or even save a life.

This is ony the beginning!!!

Thank you to everyone who continues to believe in what we are trying to achieve and for turning up for the unveiling, your presence is very much appreciated.. Together, we can keep talking, keep listening and keep saving lives. 💙
