What an incredible and deeply moving day in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, in partnership with the amazing Charity SOBS, as we proudly unveiled our 125th Legend on the Bench.
Standing alongside so many wonderful people, we were reminded once again of the extraordinary power of remembrance, compassion, and community. Every bench we unveil carries a story. It represents a loved one remembered, a life celebrated, and a message of hope for anyone who may be struggling in silence.
As always the unveiling was nothing short of inspirational. The warmth, love, and support shown by everyone in attendance created an atmosphere that was both uplifting and profoundly meaningful. These moments remind us why Legend on the Bench continues to grow and touch so many lives across the country.
A heartfelt thank you to SOBS (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide) for their unwavering support, kindness, and dedication. As they celebrate their 35th anniversary this year, we at Legend on the Bench are honoured to be partnering with them to install 35 benches across the UK and Ireland in recognition of this remarkable milestone.
Their tireless work provides comfort, understanding, and hope to those navigating the devastating impact of suicide loss. We are incredibly proud to stand alongside them, and together we are helping to create meaningful spaces for reflection, remembrance, and support, making a genuine and lasting difference in communities throughout the UK and Ireland.
The Unveiling was attended by SOBS CEO Josie Jakub along with Volunteers of their Charity. Caroline Pollard of Green Space and Street Scene Officer and Erewash Borough Council. Catherine Arkley Vice Director of Derby and District Samaritans. A Heartfelt thank you to you all for your attendance and your support, you are doing an amazing job and are helping to save lives.

To everyone who joined us, thank you. Your presence was far more than attendance; it was a powerful statement of solidarity, compassion, and understanding. By coming together, sharing stories, and supporting one another, we continue to challenge the stigma surrounding mental health and bereavement and encourage vital conversations that can save lives.
One hundred and twenty five benches. One hundred and twenty five lasting legacies. One hundred and twenty five reminders that Someone is always listening and nobody should ever feel alone.

As we continue this remarkable journey, we remain committed to creating places of reflection, remembrance, and hope in communities across the UK and Ireland.
Thank you for believing in what we do. Thank you for standing with us. And thank you for helping us ensure that every conversation, every act of kindness, and every bench makes a difference.
“The greatest people are not those who live without struggles, but those who still choose to lift others up while fighting battles of their own. That kind of strength, compassion, and humanity is what makes this world a better place to live.”

Thank You
Legend on the Bench Team.
