On Tuesday we proudly installed and revealed our 101st Legend on the Bench, this time in Walton on the Naze.
Sadly, I was unable to attend due to a funeral, but I knew the day was in very safe hands. My able deputy, Colin Merryweather, one of our true local champions, stepped in and did an absolutely superb job. He carried out the role as though he had been doing it all his life, and I couldnāt be more grateful.
Every unveiling is special. Thereās always a powerful moment when the cover comes off and the bench is revealed, the realisation of what we are achieving together truly hits home. That feeling never fades. Itās humbling, emotional, and incredibly inspiring.š
Here are a few words from Colin about the day.
āI had the honour and privilege this morning to stand in for former Spur Micky Hazard and, alongside Michelle and Kerry from the charity, present our latest (No.101) Legend on the Bench suicide prevention and mental health support bench.
It was a great pleasure to meet lead fundraiser Emma and her incredible team, including members of the Walton On The Naze & Frinton RNLI, as well as so many local people who attended the reveal at the lifeboat station on The Parade.
There will be more photographs and videos shared soon, but I would just like to say a massive THANK YOU to Emma and her team for making yet another bench possible.ā
EmmaĀ has agreed to become one of our local champions and we are delighted to have her on board, her drive and enthusiasm is there for all to see. Well done Emma, we really appreciate everything you have done. š
