A New Suicide Prevention Bench for Irtlingborough
It was a bright and pleasantly warm day in Irtlingborough as the community gathered to celebrate the installation of a new Suicide Prevention Bench, with the funds being raised by Mervyn Hemmington and his wonderful team. The atmosphere was one of warmth, reflection, and unity as residents came together to show their support for mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
We were honoured to welcome the Mayor of Irtlingborough, who spoke beautifully about the importance of community, compassion, and hope. Her kind words reminded everyone that even the smallest gestures, like taking a moment to sit, reflect, or talk, can make a world of difference to someone’s mental state.
Adding a personal touch to the occasion, Mervyn Hemmington was once again in attendance. ( his third of the day ) The event held special meaning as it took place in the very town where Mervin was born, and selected for that very reason.
Following the heartfelt bench reveal, Mervyn and his dedicated team had thoughtfully organised a lovely reception, complete with food and refreshments. It was a wonderful opportunity for guests to connect, share stories, and continue important conversations in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the Mayor for her inspiring words and ongoing support for this important cause.
A special thank you also goes to Mervyn and his team for their time, effort, and commitment in making this event such a meaningful success. Northampton and the surrounding areas are pretty safe in all of your hands.
The Legend on the Bench will continue to remind everyone that even in our darkest moments, there is always someone who cares, there is always someone who is listening and that reaching out, or simply sitting down for a chat, can change a life, maybe even your life. You are not Alone.💙💙🙏🙏
