November 14th, 2025 – A Day of Hope in Holywell, Wales

Today, despite the most challenging weather conditions we’ve ever faced, Legend on the Bench made the journey to Holywell to install and reveal the 68th and 69th Suicide Prevention Benches.

The weather was nothing short of atrocious, gales, torrential rain, and a biting wind that seemed unrelenting. Yet, even in the face of such fierce elements, a remarkable group of supporters turned out to witness the unveiling.

Among them was Matt Sprake the Mayor of Holywell, who, despite being soaked to the skin, bravely stood in the storm to deliver a powerful speech in support of mental health and suicide prevention. His words resonated deeply, as he not only recognized the vital work of Legend on the Bench but also highlighted the importance of coming together as a community to tackle these urgent issues.

Behind every bench is a group of dedicated individuals, each playing a vital role in making these installations possible. It takes time, effort, and a lot of heart to bring a bench to life, but above all, Martin’s unwavering commitment stood out. His drive and enthusiasm for bringing these benches to Holywell were truly inspiring. His approach was focused, passionate, and with a remarkable level of efficiency, served as a lesson in how to get things done with minimal fuss but maximum impact.

The first unveiling took place in Fron Park, a stunning location surrounded by greenery, flowers, and trees. The weather may have been unbearable, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of those who gathered. The crowd stood proudly, united in their support and in their commitment to this crucial cause.

The second bench reveal took place in a more secluded spot, overlooking the sea with breathtaking views. The weather was at its worst by this point, with the relentless wind whipping in from the sea, cutting through us. Despite the harsh conditions, the turnout remained incredible, with everyone who had attended the first unveiling making their way to the second. Their bravery was nothing short of inspiring.

We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended in such difficult conditions. Your presence made the day even more special, and it reminds us of the strength of our collective commitment to suicide prevention and mental health awareness. 💙

A special thank you must go to the Mayor for his time, effort, and unwavering support, and for delivering such heartfelt words, spoken with genuine compassion. Also a big thank you to Kingspan who helped make this happen. 💙

We also want to thank Martin and his incredible team. Their dedication was truly inspiring, and their example of commitment and hard work is something we can all learn from. We look forward to continuing this journey with you, as we work together to install more benches across the UK, spreading hope and raising awareness for this important cause. Thank you, you were simply amazing. 💙

Each Legend on the Bench carries a story, a story of loss, a story of hope, and a story of someone who is willing to listen. 💙

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out, help is available 24/7 via contact numbers on our Benches or our Website via the QR code on the Bench. It takes courage to stand up and talk…and it also takes courage to sit down and listen. 💙🙏
