St Georges Hospital In Tooting.
On 12th February at 12:30pm, we proudly unveiled three suicide prevention benches at St George’s Hospital in Tooting a moment that was both deeply meaningful and incredibly important.
The 1st bench was revealed in the public court yard off the Atkinson Morley Wing. A location used by staff, patients and visitors.
The 2nd and 3rd benches were revealed on newly refurbished balconies off the wards for use by patients and staff. Three wonderful locations.
These benches represent far more than a place to sit. They are visible reminders that no one has to struggle alone. In a hospital environment where people can experience vulnerability, uncertainty and emotional strain, it felt especially important to create spaces that quietly but clearly say, you matter, you are seen, and support is here. Suicide prevention begins with openness, compassion and the courage to start conversations, and the courage to listen. These benches will help to encourage exactly that.
It was lovely to be joined by so many people who play such a vital role in supporting the hospital and its wider community.
Our sincere thanks to everyone who attended.
