Herne Bay, Margate and Broadstairs completed and now on we go to Ramsgate š
As we arrived in Ramsgate, people were already gathering in the little shelter by the reveal point. It was such a powerful sight, seeing everyone coming together before weād even fully arrived. We joined them in the shelter and took some time to talk about the charity, how far weāve come, and where weāre at right now. Those conversations, even in the worst conditions, always remind me why we do this.
Once again, the conditions were terrible. The weather really hasnāt been kind to us on this journey, it feels like every step of the way weāve had to battle the elements. The cold, the wind, the rain, none of it has made this easy. There were plenty of reasons for people to stay home, to choose comfort over commitment.
But despite all of that, the turnout was incredible. Seeing so many faces out there, standing shoulder to shoulder in conditions like that, honestly meant everything. It says something powerful when people show up not because itās convenient, but because they believe in the message. That kind of support doesnāt go unnoticed.
It truly means so much to see people stand together and support the cause, no matter what the circumstances look like. The weather may not have been on our side, but the strength, togetherness, and determination of the people made it clear, the message is stronger than any storm.
The reveal was unveiled by the Birchington Vale Holiday Park team and Ray Berry, as always, it was emotional and incredibly special. No matter how many times we experience it, that moment never loses its impact. Thereās something truly powerful about the anticipation building, and then seeing the Bench slowly emerge from beneath its cover, itās always such a wonderful, moving sight.
This one felt even more meaningful. It was extra special for Ray, being born in Ramsgate and having such a deep personal connection to the place. To have the unveiling attended by his lovely mother made it all the more heartfelt. You could feel the pride, the emotion, and the significance of that shared moment. It wasnāt just a reveal, it was a memory that will stay with everyone who was there.
Following the bench reveal came the speeches, and once again Ray took control, delivering words that truly resonated with everyone there. He has such a powerful way of bringing people together and reminding us why these benches matter so much. Well done Ray.
A huge thank you to the residents of Birchington Vale Holiday Park, who turned out in their numbers to support the unveiling, despite the atrocious weather. They worked so hard to raise all the money needed, what an amazing group of people, you are genuinely helping to save lives. We are so grateful for your support and belief in what we do. Your generosity shows a deep understanding of how important mental health is and the profound impact it has on individuals, families, and our wider community.
