Our 5th Bench Reveal in Memory of Dan Mac Underwood & David Did Williams

Off to Dover we travelled for the fifth leg of our journey, a place that already holds deep meaning for us. It was here that we previously installed our Suicide Prevention Bench in memory of Ash. This time, we returned to honour Dan Mac Underwood and David Did Williams.

There is something incredibly powerful about going back to a community that has already embraced our mission so wholeheartedly. Once again, the turnout was amazing. Family and friends of both Dan, David & Ash stood side by side, united in love, remembrance, and a shared determination to make a difference. It was a truly poignant bench reveal, one filled with hope, emotion, and togetherness.

The Bench Reveal was unveiled by Dan's Mum and Sister Emma, who carried themselves with great dignity and pride, despite the heartbreak they are living through. I know i say it every time, but I truly mean it, the bench reveal never fails to make me feel so warm inside and in the midst of heartbreak, there is hope. Knowing that these benches are saving lives is something very, special, with simple gentle reminders that no one is ever alone and someone is always listening. Knowing that we are helping to remove the stigma attached to mental health, encouraging conversations, and creating a more understanding and supportive environment is simply wonderful.

No family should ever have to live through the devastation suicide causes. It doesn’t just take one life, it leaves behind unanswered questions, deep grief, and a ripple effect that touches everyone who loved that person. The pain is complex and lasting, filled with “what ifs” and moments that will never feel the same.

That’s why we have to talk about mental health openly, check in on one another, and make it okay to say, “I’m not okay.” If sharing this encourages even one person to reach out or hold on, it matters. No family should have to carry this kind of pain.

Once again, Katie Moore spoke. As always, her words touched everyone present. There is a quiet strength in the way she shares her message, honest, heartfelt, and clear. Her voice carries not only remembrance, but purpose. And her message rang out loud and clear, we must keep talking, keep supporting one another, and keep breaking the silence. Thank you Katie for every thing you do, your fundraising, your support of the families, your support of our charity, it’s all very much appreciated.

Once again, we at Legend on the Bench would like to give a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended each and every reveal. To those who fundraised tirelessly, to those who donated generously, and to those who stood beside the families in support. Every conversation started, every pound raised, and every bench installed brings us one step closer to a world where fewer families like Dan & Davids have to endure that heartbreak. Thank You.

A very special thank you to Maria Howden, Ray Berry, and all the incredible team at East Kent Spurs. Your kindness and unwavering support truly means the world to us. Raising £28,000 is nothing short of amazing, an outstanding achievement that will help us continue saving lives and spreading awareness. Mental health and suicide prevention are safe in your hands, and we are so grateful to stand alongside you.

To Katie, your continued support for our charity is incredible, but the way you support the families who are grieving is even more so. Your compassion, strength, and dedication never go unnoticed. Thank you for everything you do.

In memory of Dan & David and everyone we have honoured, we are only just beginning, we will not rest. Together, we are making a difference, together, we are breaking the stigma, and together, we are helping to save lives. Thank you all.
