Hi Everyone, last night while visiting one of our Benches in Tottenham we found a fake QR code attached to our Bench. Please be aware of this situation if you are going to click on the QR code for any reason. Take a look at the picture below to see exactly where our QR Code is positioned on our Benches, it will be exactly the same on every Bench.
A Close up view of the positioning of our QR code on our Benches.
Please note the positioning of the QR code, it is positioned in between the two plaques and will never be positioned anywhere else but where it’s shown in the picture, it is also screwed to the Bench, not stuck on. Also please check that our QR code has nothing stuck on top of the original QR code and if in doubt please contact us at Legend on the Bench.
Please read below for ways to identify fake codes.
How to Identify Fake QR Codes
Knowing how to spot fake QR codes can help you protect yourself. Consider these strategies for staying safe:
Check the source: Be cautious about scanning QR codes found in public places. If a code appears out of place or lacks clear labeling, think twice before scanning it.
Inspect the URL: When a QR code directs you to a website, scrutinize the URL. Look for misspellings or unfamiliar domain endings. Trustworthy websites typically feature recognizable and secure domain names, like those that start with "https."
Use a QR Scanner with malware detection: Some scanning apps can verify URLs for malicious content before you proceed. Using such apps offers extra protection against scams.
Educate others: Share information about the risks of fake QR codes with friends and family. The more people are informed, the fewer will fall victim to these scams.
Please be safe everyone, we live in times of corruption and scamming and even suicide prevention benches are not outside their attacks. Love to you all. X
