On a calm and sunny day in Sandwich, Kent, Legend on the Bench came together once again to unveil another Suicide Prevention Bench, a moment that carried real weight, meaning, and purpose for everyone involved.
This unveiling was about far more than a physical bench. It was about creating a space that speaks when words are hard to find, a place that encourages reflection, remembrance, and honest conversations around mental health and suicide prevention. It stands as a reminder that support is out there, and that no one should ever feel they have to face life’s struggles in isolation.
We were privileged to be joined by Councillor Daniel Friend who spoke with calmness, knowledge and wisdom. His attendance and thoughtful words reflected a shared commitment to breaking down stigma and continuing to support mental health work across the UK & Ireland.

We were also grateful to hear from Maria Howdon of East Kent Spurs and Ray from East Kent Spurs who both once again spoke with real passion about the charity and the journey so far. The group’s fundraising total of £28,000 is an incredible achievement, and it continues to make a meaningful impact in supporting mental health initiatives and those who need help the most.
The atmosphere in Sandwich was incredibly moving. There was a real sense of togetherness, reflection, and respect throughout the unveiling, with members of the community standing side by side in support of something that affects so many lives.

To everyone who attended, supported, spoke, or simply stood with us, thank you. It is never taken for granted, and your presence helps strengthen the message behind every bench we place. Thank you 💙💙💙
And finally, thank you once again to Councillor Dan for your continued support, and to Maria Howdon, Ray & East Kent Spurs for your continued belief, generosity, and commitment to this cause.
“Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply show up for one another, because a moment of kindness can be the reason someone chooses to keep going.”💙
